  • School Districts: NYC School Districts 17 & 20
  • Project Title: Project ICT — A Global Learning Initiative
  • Focus: Technology Literacy, ICT Skills Development & Assessment
The mission of Project ICT is to enhance the learning process through the integration of technology with an essential focus on research, summarizing learning and sharing knowledge. To do so select schools in NYC Districts 17 & 20 will partner with non-public schools to integrate digital resources into standards-based content area instruction.
The focal point of Project ICT will be the development of Connected Learning Communities. These online learning platform will align curriculum with authentic learning experiences to create portals of learning opportunities with school-based, local, national and global communities. Comprehensive professional development activities will support the smooth infusion of 21st century instructional tools to school leaders, teachers and students. Professional development opportunities will assure that students and teachers can create educational settings where students explore learning opportunities around the globe. The project will also provide instructional leaders with the information to make innovative and meaningful decisions about teaching and learning. Parents will have access to student learning communities to keep abreast of their children’s progress and encouraging them to become integral members of their children's learning communities.

By participating in Project ICT, students will acquire valuable knowledge in the use of digital technology, communication tools, and have access to an online network of learning experiences that will manage, integrate and evaluate information in ways that will improve their academic performance and prepare them for careers in an information-based, global society.
